ULTRALIGHTS AND MICROSPIKES
Beyond snow levels in the High Sierra, there isn’t a topic I’ve spent more time researching than gear. Countless blogs and books are dedicated to keeping your pack as light as possible. Whole industries were built on the two words “ultra” and “light.” The average hiker’s base weight, according to the blog Halfway Anywhere, is just over 19 pounds.
